Thomas Golden
Tom Golden is a psychotherapist, author, and speaker renowned for his work on grief and healing, particularly focusing on how men process loss. His groundbreaking book, Swallowed by a Snake: The Gift of the Masculine Side of Healing, challenged traditional views on grief by highlighting gender differences in emotional expression. With over 30 years of clinical experience, Golden has conducted workshops across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia, earning recognition such as the 1999 International Grief Educator award from the Australian Centre for Grief Education. His insights have been featured in major media outlets, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and CNN.

Career and Achievements
Throughout the 80s, Golden worked as a therapist at the St. Francis Center, where he emotionally cared for those who deeply struggled from the loss of loved ones. In the early 2000s, he joined the Maryland Commission for Men's Health. For four years, he assisted in evaluating health services for men in the state. Additionally, he wrote 3 reports for the commission that were submitted to Governor Martin O'Malley and other Maryland officials.
The 3 reports were:
- Men's Health in Maryland: This report provided an overview of the general health status of men in the state, highlighting key areas of concern and disparities.
- Men, Boys, and Suicide: Focusing on mental health, this report examined the prevalence of suicide among males, identified contributing factors, and offered recommendations for prevention and support.
- Male Victims of Domestic Violence: This report shed light on the often-overlooked issue of men experiencing domestic violence, discussing the challenges they face and suggesting measures to provide better assistance and resources.
That same year, 2010, and for the next eight years, he became a member of the White House Proposal for a Council on Men and Boys, founded by Warren Farrell, along with 34 others all passionate about resolving issues of boys and men.
Golden's efforts for the last 40 years have permitted him to be a notable author, psychotherapist and public speaker. Today, he upholds a private practice focusing in trauma-healing for families, couples, children and individuals.
He's also held hundreds of workshops, seminars and keynotes at numerous locations around the world. He was named the International Grief Educator in 1999 and toured five cities in Australia teaching their hospice and mental health professionals about men and boys and their unique paths to heal from loss and crisis.
